The art historian Gustav Friedrich Waagen on how to teach so people learn:
"First delight, then instruct."

I offer adults online piano lessons.
Here is what we can do together:
1. Jazz piano lessons are for those who love the romance, rhythm, and fun of playing jazz. We will explore the "Great American Songbook" which includes, among others, the music of Rogers and Hart, Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, George Gershwin, and Irving Berlin. Working together we will untangle the mysteries of jazz piano, rhythm, and improvisation though working on jazz piano techniques, repertoire, chords/scales, ear training, and theory. In short, knowledge + skill + application= Jazz happiness. You will have the opportunity to play in a jazz trio in our Jazz and Blues Workshops.
2. Classical piano lessons are about exploring the timeless music of J.S. Bach, Ludwig Van Beethoven, Amy Beach, F. Chopin, all the usual suspects. The key to reaching your goal of playing beautifully is to work methodically on your piano foundations. I work with beginners, adult restarters, and piano exam candidates.
3. Recreational keyboard for adults: Bach to Beyonce, there are no limits to what we can explore.
4. Blues and boogie woogie piano: Dr. John to Jerry Lee Lewis. Fun, happy, energetic music that will wake your neighbors.
5. Music teachers (refresh your approach): Education for the contemporary learner
6. Ear training skills. I teach specialized jazz and classical ear training skills to serious students. (Personally, if I can't hear it and see it in my head, I can't play it with any sense of artistry.)
