Fees, Policies, Calendar, and Contact Information

Fees

Lessons are $90.00 per hour, $67.50 for 45 minutes, $50.00 per half hour. All fees are in Canadian funds. The calendar below has fee totals for the full term. Fees are paid full or half term.  Consulting and one off lessons are $100.00 per hour.

Lessons run September 3rd to the end of June 21st. Summer lessons are a more casual affair. We will work around our mutual holiday schedules.

I accept interac etransfer only for Canadian students. This reserves an exclusive weekly lesson time for you. Out of the country students pay via PayPal. You may start mid-term if space permits.  If lessons conclude before the end of the calendar year, the un-used balance is immediately and cheerfully refunded. Summer lessons are billed as we go.

Policies

  1. Absences
Fees are not refunded nor are make-up classes offered for student absences. This includes student forgetfulness and double scheduling. This is not the responsibility of the piano teacher. Lessons missed due to the teacher’s absence will be given at a mutually convenient time, or an immediate refund will be cheerfully given. If you are unable to keep a regular schedule, I might not be the teacher for you.

The following exception applies: If you are an online student, we can work together on an asynchronous lesson if I know ahead of time.

This policy keeps lesson fees reasonable and brings dignity to my work.

       2. Consulting
Consultations are for folks who wish to meet only occassionally.

Associated fees
  • Students are responsible for exam registration and payment.
  • Fees for music festivals and recitals are billed separately.
  • Music books and other learning materials are the responsibility of the student.
Contacting the teacher
  • Email is best prior to the lesson day; you will need to text, or phone the day of your lesson. Please no calls on Sunday. I do not accept calls, emails, etc., from children.
Addressing the teacher
  • I prefer children to call me Mr. Story. Everyone else: David or Dave.

My students live in 4 countries. Though the majority are found in Southern Ontario, some find me from far away: Northern BC, Los Angles, Tampa Florida, Nantucket, Cape Breton, and France.
