This latest installment explores improvisation, chording, and ensemble playing in a fun, social atmosphere.
Each week we will perform 2 ensemble pieces arranged by David. Parts will be in a variety of skill levels, so that everyone can participate with confidence.
Completely hands on and using supplied keyboards.
The goal of the class is to build skill and confidence in the performing and/or teaching of contemporary music.
Skills area to be explored
At each stage participants can fully participate by asking questions, trying out the material, and practicing under the guidance of our experienced clinician/examiner, David Story.
Minimum requirements: Grade 8 Piano, Grade 2 Theory and higher
Each level will be explored and experienced using supplied music.The four sessions will allow for a detailed exploration of the material, teaching strategies and tactics.
There will be four 3 hour sessions.
Dates: Wednesday, February 20, 27, March 6, 20
Time: 10 am - 1pm

Master Class Youth Series Workshop 46 November 2012
A project of Conservatory Canada™ and the Canadian Music Centre
Conservatory Canada and The Canadian Music Centre present an exciting
new venture. The Master Class Youth Series is an innovative program where
students are mentored by both a professional performer and a professional
composer, interacting in a masterclass/workshop setting over a two day
period. The Masterclass Youth Series includes both performance and
composition elements.
WHO: Elementary and secondary piano students, with a range of music
skill levels represented
WHAT: Two-day workshop, including coaching from Conservatory
Canada Performer and Canadian Music Centre Associate Composer
HOW: Students are recommended by private studio or school teachers
(See application/recommendation form attached). A shortlist of
ten participants per region will be selected by a joint committee
of Conservatory Canada and Canadian Music Centre.
REPERTOIRE: Two Canadian pieces, at least one of
which is selected from shortlist available through Canadian Music Centre.
Variance in grade/difficulty level between two selections is acceptable.
